Ford Harley-DavidsonF-150 Monday, June 29, 2009

The new Ford Harley-DavidsonF-150 is set to be unveiled this week at the Chicago Auto Show. This is the 14th truck the auto company and motorcycle giant have designed together. They have sold 74,000 co-branded trucks since the partnership began in 2000

ANTIQUE TRUCK JOYRIDES

1925 Ford Model T T fire truck was brought to the Old Car Festival by Tom Collins of Nashville, Tenn

More than 600 cars and trucks in various conditions, dating from the turn of the last century into the early 1930s, lined the streets of the village, awaiting their turns to pass in review before historians Marty Bufalini, Bob Casey, David Liepelt and Glenn Miller.
Period trucks bring a special twist to the festival that often appears dominated by Ford Model A's and T's.
Tom Collins has a Ford T of a different kind, a 1925 Ford Model TT (Model T Truck) fire truck, which he brought up from Nashville, Tenn.
"This was a rural truck and I think it was originally from around here somewhere," Collins said, as he loaded family and friends onto the open (no cab) vehicle for a ride to his designated spot along Christie Street.
The truck's two tanks together hold around 50 gallons of water which would have been mixed with chemicals like baking soda in brass containers before being sprayed on fires, he said.
The "same day response" painted on the sides of the truck let you know it might be a while before help arrived. Collins pointed to several buckets on board, saying they were most likely used if a well or stream were available. Fire hydrants were not an option in the countryside.
"The chassis was built by Ford here in Michigan, then shipped to Logansport, Indiana, where it was converted into a fire truck," said Collins, adding that this was his fourth time at the Old Car Festival

MACK TRUCK Sunday, June 28, 2009

The Mack Granite Axle Back MP Engine Series trucks are amazing feats of engineering that are tougher than ever. We've chiseled away several hundred pounds without sacrificing an ounce of our legendary toughness, all so you can increase payload and raise profits. The weight is evenly distributed for optimum performance. Drivers will see better, thanks to a sloping hood and visibility doors. Smart, sophisticated electronics keep you up and running with full diagnostics and service scheduling. There's lots of leg and belly room with the new, deeper cab design, a seat that cushions as well as supports, and it features an easy-to-reach, quick-to-read dash

LARGE TRUCK CRACHES

Large trucks account for a disproportionately large share of traffic deaths based on miles traveled. The fatal crash rate for large trucks is 50 percent greater than the rate for all vehicles on the roads.

THE LIBEHERR

All large trucks like the T282 don't just have wing mirrors to see what is behind when they reverse; they also have video cameras, usually two on either side and another on the rear axle, to give the driver a full view of the road around him or her.

HUGE TRUCK

Friday was karaoke night at Common Interest. We are on the way there (an hour late) and I get a phone call from Arthur asking where my bro is! I call my bro and get no answer. Surely he's at CI and Arthur just can't find him!As we roll into the parking lot, I notice the unusual abundance of large trucks double parked in the parking lot. Now, I know this is Texas and there are a lot of big trucks driving around here

ROAD TRAIN

I love trains and I love trucks. For a long time I thought the two were mutually exclusive, that is until I discovered road trains. Road trains are simply extremely large trucks towing anywhere from 3 to 6 full-sized trailers behind them. This allows trucks to move massive loads across barren areas where there are no train tracks, such as the center of Australia or the barren state of Nevada.
In case you hadn’t guessed already the road train is product of those crazy boys from down under. I discovered an excellent television hosted by Jeremy Clarkson called Motor World. In this series Clarkson travels to the different reaches of the world exploring their automotive history and culture. I found a segment of Motor World where Jeremy Clarkson is exploring the outback and takes an in depth look at road trains. He even interviews the gent who invented the concept of road trains. This a really great program and I will try to dig up more snip-its from it in the future

ART TRUCK

"This was shot in Aichi Japan at a Truck Show for kids May 5 during the end of ‘Golden Week’ last year. The man pictured here is the owner of the truck which is a customized refrigerated delivery truck. He put about American into getting it just right. It’s actually pouring down rain (you can see the rain drops in the foggy area on the right side of the image) and I am holding an umbrella over my Mark II while shooting this 8 sec exposure…. Aichi is a small farm town in the middle of nowhere, but 300 of these ‘Art Trucks’ from various truck clubs showed up to help fund-raise for less fortunate kids."

TWO TRUCK

This amazing, fully-functional Tow Truck is equipped with rack and pinion front wheel steering, and an operating crane, winch and lift -- just like the real thing! Authentic model for skilled builders! Pump the pneumatic cylinder to lift the telescoping boom! Tow Truck measures over 26" (66cm) long! Turn the wheels to see the realistic V6 engine pistons move! Lower the stabilizers for towing heavy loads! Telescoping boom extends, retracts, lifts and lowers! Open the hood to see the detailed engine and spinning radiator fans! Includes building instructions to rebuild into a heavy load flat-bed truck! Also includes instructions for integrating #8287 Motor Set (sold separately) into the alternate model. The motor will lift and lower the arm and pull the string up and down

FUTURE HST TRUCK

The HST truck is an idea to provide long distance transport facilities to the developed market of the year 2030. Maximizing the productivity by reducing expenses while increasing revenue is the main goal of this innovative truck. Since the main headache of haulage firms in the fuel expense, this truck was designed to lessen co-efficient to ensure minimal air resistance. Therefore, it aims to incorporate slippery body panel, sleek aerodynamic deature by a conical front, flush body with no protrusions wipers, mirrors, etc. Additionally, the HST truck aims to be longer than traditional trucks.

HEAVY TRUCK

The genesis for these one-of-a-kind trucks came from Jim Carello’s desire to bring his enthusiasm for hot rods and motorcycles into the truck world – but not just as a hobby. In particular, he wanted to show the truck buying public that “aerodynamic” tractors – the kind favored by fleets for their fuel-sipping sleekness – can pack just as much “wow” factor punch as their classic, square nosed brethren.

COOL TRUCK

Yet these products of extreme imagination of Jim Carello and son Jason – dealer principle and general manager, respectively, of a chain of truck and equipment dealerships in upstate New York – aren’t just vanity projects. They were designed to prove a point – that aerodynamically-shaped trucks can be just as far-out and glamorous as any rig with a square hood, if not more so

DECENT TRUCK

Would you believe a BMW M5 is more aerodynamic than a Z06? Well, it is. The same goes for the trucks. A well designed cabover can be very aerodynamically efficient.
Combined with Euro speed regulations, more side skirts, shorter trailer-cab distances, super singles, etc...Euro trucks use less gas on average than US trucks
